March Special Show & Sale of Store Cattle - 13.03.23
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their March Special Show & Sale of 569 Store Cattle, kindly sponsored by PFK Rural.
The early morning judging was in the capable hands of E Sedgewick, Long Myres Farm, Sherburn.
11 Cattle - £2000 +

Quality and strength was in strong demand all day with plenty of extra buyers around the ring ensuring a level trade from start to finish. A total of 11 cattle sold in excess of £2000 topping at £2380 for a 34 month old Limousin Heifer from Mr B Duffton, Huntly selling to Mr D Barker with his consignment of 19 averaging £2007. With the same home selling Limousin X Bullocks to £2225.
A wonderful consignment of 8 None Farm Assured dairy bred British Blue Bullocks & Heifers from Mr J Barker, Capplegill averaged a staggering £1875 topping at £2115.
Numerous dairy bred cattle achieved £1500 plus with M/s D & J Errington, Annfield selling a run of 15 to average £1673.
A consignment of yearlings from Messrs Hodgson, Woodfoot averaged a staggering £1330 topping at £1495 with a Limousin Bullock.
Dairy bred Angus Heifers achieved £1415 from Newlands Farming and the same home selling a pair of dairy bred British Blue to £1445.
11 month old pure Limousin Bulls from Messrs A J & L Birkett, Birk Howe Farm topped at £1575.
All in all, demand all day was strong and vendors are encouraged to enter for our next sale on the 27th March, entries close Noon Monday 20th March.
