On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 368 Store Cattle.
Vendors travelled from all over the country, Norfolk to Aberdeen to take advantage of our fortnightly trade. This sale can only be described as one of the dearest witnessed here with extra buyers present and customers for all classes. A new market record of £2455 was achieved for a superb 25-month-old Limousin bullock from Mr B Duffton, Huntly, purchased by Mr D Barker, this home also sold the top price heifer achieving £2155 for a 35-month-old Aberdeen Angus X, purchased by Mr F Towers, with this consignment of 29 superbly well-turned out cattle averaging £1652.76.
Messrs DH & ER Strong & Son, Well House, achieved a fantastic average of £1706.32 for a consignment of eight 18-month-old Limousin X bullocks, topping at £1875.
Dairy-bred bullocks topped at £1675 for a pair of 22-month-old Limousins from Messrs TJ & JM Powley, Blands Farm, purchased by Mr I Forsythe.
A 27-month-old British Friesian bullocks from Messrs EA & A Dodd, Roanstrees, achieved £1415.
Seventeen-month-old Montbeliarde bullocks achieved £1215 from Messrs F Harrison & Sons, Crossrigg.
Young feeding bulls sold to a sharper trade with more buyers present, topping at £1455 for a pure Limousin from Mr KJ Burrow, Hacra.
