On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 42 Rearing Calves and Stirks.

We held our final sale of the year for calves & stirks, a smaller offering was forward with an abundance of local purchasers supporting the sale.

The sale topped at £440 for a great four-month-old Limousin bull calf from Messrs James, Melmerby Mill, with this home also topping the heifer section at £390 for a Limousin.

Brackenburgh Home Farm sold a lovely British Blue bull calf to £320, purchased by Mr E Hird. Messrs KA & PJ Woodman & Son, Hill House, sold a lovely run of young calves topping at £260 for a British Blue heifer.

A smaller offering of stirks was forward with Messrs Bowness & Spedding, Galemire House, selling a pair of Holstein bullocks to top at £390.
