Store Cattle 101022
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 267 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls.
A very weathered show of cattle was forward but nevertheless trade held up to last fortnights returns. The sale topped at £1645 for an 18-month-old Charolais X British Blue bullock from Mr M Bowman, The Wath, purchased by Mr D Barker.
A consignment of Limousin bullocks and heifers from Mr JD Bowman, Croft House, averaged £1561.67, topping at £1615 for a 24-month-old Limousin heifer purchased by Mr D Whaite.
Dairy-bred Limousin heifers, 24-months-old, topped at £1415 from Mr GP Taylor, Swathburn, purchased by Mr D Whaite.
A 12-month-old Limousin X British Blue young bull achieved £1295 from Messrs AD & FE Elliott, Askrigg Hall, purchased by Mr T Toppin.
