Green Rose, Farm Sale - 24.09.22
On Saturday Penrith & District Farmers Mart LLP held an on-farm sale on behalf of Mr Willis Wharton, Green Rose, Crackenthorpe, Appleby. A sale of its kind never seen before, with 706 lots going under the hammer with more than 1,000 purchasers and enthusiasts.
The sale represented Mr Wharton’s lifelong interest in vintage and classic farm machinery and tractors. The lots were fantastically presented and restored to an impeccable standard. His enthusiasm was justly rewarded with buyers attending from all over the country and from Ireland.
The sale topped at £22,500 for a sought-after Fergie Brown NO44D, selling to a collector from Edinburgh.
An item which gathered a huge amount of interest was a very rare collectors’ piece, the Ferguson Welder, achieving £16,000.
