Michaelmas Store Cattle 260922

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their Annual Michaelmas Prize Show & Sale of 601 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls, kindly sponsored by PFK Land Agency.

Demand for store cattle held very strong, with all sold averaging £1,181.26. The sale topped at £2,115 for a twenty-eight-month-old Charolais bullock from Mr WH Brass, Low Row, selling to Mr D Barker.

Next up at £1,895 was a twenty-four-month-old Limousin bullock from Mr JD Bowman, Croft House, closely followed at £1885, both selling to Mr D Barker. This consignment averaged £1785.

Heifers topped at £1695 for a British Blue X Simmental from Mr J Shields, Gooselands View Barn, purchased by Mr W Armstrong.

A consignment of 16-17-month-old, none farm assured Limousin X bullocks from Mr B Walton, Goodlie Hill Farm, achieved an average of £1556.67, topping at £1,815, selling to Mr R Webster.

Messrs TJ & JM Powley, Blands Farm, sold a consignment of dairy-bred Limousin bullocks and heifers to average £1420.83, this included a pen of six bullocks that realised £1,535.

A pair of dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks achieved £1,535 from Mr WH Brass, Low Row.
