On Wednesday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their early sale of Breeding Ewes and Rams.
A small, but exceptional quality offering of breeding rams was forward to a keen ring side of buyers, topping today’s sale at £700 on two occasions for Suffolk shearling tups from Messrs Hewson, Burgh Head. Continentals soon followed on multiple occasions at £600, firstly, for a Texel from Messrs Graham, Hallrigg, then Beltex shearlings sold for £600 from Mr K Hunt, Braithwaite Shields, Messrs Hewson, Burgh Head & Messrs Wales, Thackwood. Proving that strong tups continue to sell with ease. Females sold to a top of £180 for a pair of Texel cross shearlings from Messrs Little, Ennerdale.
