Rearing calves & stirks 050822
On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 179 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
Our growing calf and stirk sale seems to be a great success with new vendors showing from the west coast of Cumbria and as far afield as Lanarkshire.
The sale topped at £920 for an Aberdeen Angus bullock, fifteen-months-old, from Messrs Bowness & Spedding, Galemire House, purchased by Mr J Linsley.
Young cattle, two to five months old, sold to some extreme rates with Messrs N & G Bark, Skirling Mains Farm, Biggar, selling three-month-old Limousin bulls to £645, purchased by Mr J Field.
Messrs JM and J Fisher and Daughters, Holmwrangle, sold a cracking consignment of 10 perfectly reared four to five-month-old British Blue cross bulls and heifers to average £508, topping at £550 for a pair of bulls.
A consignment of 10 well-presented young British Blue calves, seven to eight-weeks-old from Messrs J Jackson and Son, Frizington Parks Farm averaged £349, topping at £460 purchased by Mr J Wear, Milburn Grange.
