Store Cattle Report 180722

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 209 Store Cattle & Feeding Bulls.

Store cattle achieved fierce trade today, with quality bringing in some rare returns. The sale topped at £1625 for a twenty-eight-month-old, dairy-bred British Blue heifer from Messrs JG & RW Nevinson & Son, High House Farm, purchased by Mr D Barker.

Bullocks topped at £1625 for a Limousin X from Messrs M Bindloss, Shap Abbey, bought by Mr R Dickinson. This consignment of 63 Limousin & Charolais X bullocks, 14-16-month-old, averaged £1301.83. Numerous cattle from this consignment sold in excess of £1400, with a Charolais achieving £1575, selling to Mr J Crichton.

Dairy-bred cattle were in short supply for buyers’ requirements, with twenty-four-month-old Aberdeen Angus X British Friesian bullocks realising £1445 from Messrs EA & A Dodd, Roanstrees.

Messrs DW Burne & Son, Greenlands, sold a consignment of twenty-four-month-old Friesian bullocks for £1215 per head.
