On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 66 OTM Cattle.
A sale average of 171ppk was achieved, demand and trade held well in line with previous sales, with no downward turn like last weeks market reports across the country. The sale topped at 253.5ppk for a none-farm-assured British Blue cow, weighing 759kg from Messrs JE Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm, realising £1924.07 purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
The sale topped per head at £2149.02 for a nine-year-old British Blue cross Limousin cow, weighing 806kg from Messrs RW Sowerby & Sons, Sycamore Rise. This home also topped the cast bull section with a 13-year-old Limousin, weighing 1092kg, totalling £2386.02 (218.5ppk) purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Young Holstein cows topped at 201.5ppk from Messrs Wilson, Hardrigg Hall, realising £1162.66 purchased by Mr L Fell.
TB exempt parlour cows topped at £179.5ppk/£1394.72 from Skirwith Abbey, purchased by Mr L Fell.
A none-farm-assured, pure Beef Shorthorn cow achieved £1725/187.5ppk from Messrs JE Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm, purchased by Mr D Barker.
