On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 76 OTM Cattle.
A much larger show of cast cows was forward, trade held exceptionally well with no downturn in demand at all and returns just as dear as previous sales.
The sale topped at 248.5ppk for a 13-year-old British Blue cross Limousin cow, weighing 767kg realising £1906.00 from Messrs G & JE Bell, Far Broom, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Cows topped per head at £1920.72 (226.5ppk) for a 10-year-old Limousin cross British Blue from Messrs JW & M Buckle, Bleathgill, purchased by Mr D Barker.
Cast bulls topped at £2453.40/211.5ppk for an 8-year-old British Blue from Messrs J & JM Dixon & Son, Berrier Head Farm, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Messrs J Stalker, Ratten Castle, sold a run of young Holstein cows to average £1227.99/196ppk, topping at £1324/198.5ppk.
Holstein cows, straight from the parlour and through our TB exempt section topped at £1526.25/187.5ppk from Mr W Schug, Bongate Moor, purchased by Mr L Fell.
British Friesian parlour cows, 10-years-old, topped at £1354.15/188.5ppk from Messrs Strong, Low Brow.
