On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 56 OTM Cattle.
There was no let-up in trade in the cow ring with demand holding extremely well, an overall sale average of 179ppk was achieved, a marvellous trade considering the number of plain Black & White cows.
The sale topped at 267.5ppk for a five-year-old Limousin cow, weighing 791kg from Messrs W Richardson & Son, Ghyll House, realising £2115.93 purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
A run of well-fed, ten-year-old cows from Messrs AJ & FM Harrison, Grange Hall, averaged £1746.81/232ppk, topping at £1796.93/242.5ppk purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Young Holstein cows achieved £1453.38/192.5ppk from Skirwith Abbey, purchased by Mr L Fell.
Parlour cows from Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Berrier, topped at £1551.68/186.5ppk for an 832kg cow.
An eight-year-old, TB exempt Hereford cow, weighing 827kg achieved £1608.52/194.5ppk from Messrs A & S Robley, Nelson Hill Farm.
