On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 33 OTM Cattle.
A smaller offering of cows was forward with demand as strong as ever, the sale topped at £1694.13/223.5ppk for a British Blue cross cow, weighing 758kg, from Mrs CM Brown, Park House Farm, purchased by Mr W Barker.
A consignment of 8 to 10-year-old cows averaged £1490.56/207ppk from Mr GE Harker, Murton Hall.
A run of young Beef Shorthorn cattle averaged £1506.20/216ppk from Mr SD Lambert, Kitridding Farm, Carnforth, topping at £1622.55/217.5ppk purchased by Mr B Howard.
Holstein cows, straight out the parlour, topped at £1506.01/179.5ppk from Messrs Fisher, Yanwath Woodhouse, purchased by Mr L Fell, with this consignment averaging £1412.37.
Black & Whites topped per kilo at 181.5ppk from Messrs Johnston, Skirwith Abbey, realising £1488.30 for 820kg.
