On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 359 Store Cattle.
Another excellent sale of store cattle was forward on the fortnight, with strong cattle extremely good to sell throughout, topping at £2075 for an 18-month-old British Blue cross bullock from Mr J Gracey, Aberdeen, selling to Mr F Towers, this consignment averaged £1789.
All heifers in the sale averaged a staggering £1208.33, topping at £1965 for a Continental from Mr B Duffton, Huntley, with a further 20 from this home sold in excess of £1500.
Far Close Farm, Dufton, sold 24-month-old Limousin bullocks to £1775, bought by Mr F Towers.
Dairy bred cattle topped at £1355 from Messrs S & W Maughan, Street House, with an Aberdeen Angus bullock, purchased by Mr D Barker.
A large show of Holstein bullocks were forward today, topping at £1295 for a 20-month-old beast from Messrs M Ridsdale & Son, Yew Tree Farm.
A consignment of twelve Holstein bullocks 16 to 17 months-old from Messrs JW Watson, Whygill Head, averaged a staggering £1035, topping at £1085 for a pen of six selling to Mr W Kirkby.
