Store Cattle 280322
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 248 store cattle.
Another sharp trade was witnessed in the store cattle ring, with demand holding exceptionally well throughout. More numbers are required on a fortnightly basis.
The sale topped at £1865 for a pair of Continental bred bullocks from Mr B Duffton, Aberdeen, selling to Mr D Barker. The same home had a rare run of heifers, to top at £1765, selling to Mr W Armstrong, with numerous heifers selling between £1500-£1650.
Messrs JG & RW Nevinson & Son sold a consignment of dairy-bred heifers to average £1622.50, topping at £1675 for a pair of Limousin cross British Friesian heifers.
Mr D Smith, Far Close Farm, Dufton, averaged £1587.50 for a run of twenty-two-month-old Limousin cross British Blue bullocks, topping at £1685.
Dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks topped at £1335 for a pair from Messrs S & W Maughan, Street House, this consignment averaged £1290.
Messrs R Allinson & Son, Windy Gate, sold a consignment of five twenty-four-month-old Aberdeen Angus cross Galloway heifers to average £1125, topping at £1215.
Fleckvieh bullocks from Hay Close, Calthwaite, achieved a staggering £1315.
Messrs DW Burne & Son sold a pair of twenty-two-month-old Friesian bullocks for £1275.
