Store Cattle 110422

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 258 store cattle.

An extended ringside of buyers was forward, with most going home short of order requirements and demand being as strong as ever. Consider marketing your store cattle when the trade is as strong as it is.

The sale topped at £1960 for a none-farm assured Charolais bullock, 24-months-old, from Mr B Duffton, Aberdeenshire, purchased by Mr D Barker, this consignment of 20 averaged £1623, also topping the heifer section at £1945 for a British Blue, purchased by Mr D Whaite.

Mr EA Harrison, Scar Side Farm, Orton, sold a consignment of none-farm assured Charolais and Limousin bullocks and heifers to average £1692.14, topping at £1875 for a pair of British Blue cross bullocks.

Native bullocks topped at £1645 for a pen of three Aberdeen Angus from A & S Robley, Nelson Hill, purchased by Mr D Barker, with this consignment averaging £1588.33.

A consignment of Limousin cross heifers from Mr F Dickinson, Low House, averaged £1655, topping at £1695, purchased by Mr W Armstrong.

First time customers, Mr EJ Lister, Cockley Gill Farm, Lamplugh, sold a consignment of Limousin heifers, 20 months old, to average £1555.

Messrs SK Morton, Long Meg, sold a consignment of 16 British Blue cross Holstein heifers, 18-19 months-old, in great store condition to average £1139.38, topping at £1265.

Messrs Ewart, Barkbeth, achieved some phenomenal prices, way above everyone’s expectations, for a 31-month-old Longhorn heifer achieving £1195, purchased by Mr D Barker.
