OTM Cattle - 14.03.22
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 61 OTM Cattle.
Cows averaged 162.49pkg up to 239.50.
This was the dearest sale ever witnessed here at Penrith, with demand never seen like it before. The whole sale averaged 163ppk with numerous cattle achieving 200ppk plus.
The sale topped at 239.5ppk from Mr R Dawson, Southwaite Farm an over aged British Blue heifer totalling £1250.19 being purchased by Mr D Barker, with this consignment averaging £1300.31 / 230ppk.
Older cows achieved 227.5ppk from M/s A J & F M Harrison, Grange Hall, weighing 718kg’s totalling £1633.45 purchased by Mr Owain Llyr with the same home selling 9 year old cows to £1715.38.
Black & White cows knocked spots of any other outlets, with Lowther Park Farms selling a 6 year old Holstein, TB Exempt to £1362.75 / 172.5ppk!!, with 10 year old cows to
£1265.11 / 170.5ppk.
M/s Fisher, Yanwath, Woodhouse sold cows out of the parlour to average £1272 / £164ppk peaking at 167.5pph.
None farm assured Angus x cow sold to 187.5ppk / £1207.50 from Mr J R Corlett, Skiddaw View, Cockermouth purchased by Mr P Bowes.
