Store Cattle 140222
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 321 store cattle.
Store cattle came forward in quantity, with a packed ringside of buyers taking advantage of a mixed show of cattle to suit all customers.
A total of 86 cattle achieved over £1300, topping at £1785 for a none farm assured Charolais bullock, 21 months old from Mr EA Harrison, Scar Side, purchased by Mr F Towers. This run of Continental and Holstein bullocks and heifers averaged £1303.33.
Messrs A & S Robley, Nelson Hill Farm, sold twenty-five-month-old British Blue X Angus bullocks to a top of £1700 selling to Mr D Barker. This consignment of cattle averaged £1482.50.
Messrs HG Jackson, Littlebeck, sold a pen of nineteen-month-old British Blue X Limousin cattle to average £1468.
Dairy bred British Blue bullocks from Messrs WK & D Hall, Bells View, topped at £1405. This run of twenty-four-month-old cattle averaged £1363.33.
One of the best shows of heifers was forward here at Penrith Auction in a long time, with all sixty-seven Limousin heifers in the sale averaging £1262.99, topping at £1685 from Messrs Raine, Fog Close, selling to Foley Brothers. This run of fifteen averaged £1370.33.
Montcoffer sold a consignment of twenty well turned-out heifers, carrying great flesh, to average £1421.50. Topping at £1665, selling to Mr I Bowe.
