On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held a special sale of 34 Dairy Cattle.
A small but quality show of dairy cattle was forward to our busy competitive ringside of buyers, with all classes being exceptionally good to sell and way short of buyers requirements.
The sale topped at £2120 for a superbly presented second-calved Holstein Friesian cow, giving 35kgs from Messrs TR & PE & JR Little, Low Moor Dyke, purchased by Messrs TJ & JM Powley, with this consignment of second-calved cows averaging £2010.
A consignment of fresh cows, from second to fourth calvers, averaged £1775 from Messrs M Ridsdale, Yew Tree Farm, topping at £1950, purchased by Mr J Stalker.
A lovely consignment of British Friesian and Fleckvieh cross in-calf heifers, due in April to the Aberdeen Angus bull, averaged £1362 from Messrs JH & E Ivinson, Plumpton Foot, topping at £1500 for a very well put together British Friesian purchased by Messrs NM Strong.
