On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 138 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
A larger show of calves and stirks was forward to an extended ringside of buyers, with trade strong and customers here for all classes.
The sale topped at £760 for a fourteen-month-old Limousin bullock from Messrs J & B Donald & Son, Lamonby Hall, purchased by Mr D Holgate, this home also sold a pair of British Blue heifers to £600 per head, purchased by a local farmer.
Heifer stirks topped at £650 twice for twelve-month-old British Blues from Messrs JM & J Fisher & Daughters, Holmewrangle.
Younger calves topped at £450 twice, firstly for a British Blue bull from Messrs GL Armstrong & Sons, Blunderfield East and secondly for a British Blue bull from Turnbull Farming, Monks House, both purchased by Mr B Brass.
