January Bonanza Store Cattle Show & Sale - 17.01.22
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their Annual January Bonanza Show and Sale of 520 Store Cattle, kindly sponsored by PFK Land Agency.
A marvellous show of Store Cattle was forward, to the largest ringside of buyers seen in a long time, with a customer for everything. The whole sale averaged £1163.51.
The sale topped at £1685 for a superb British Blue x Limousin Heifer, 18 Months Old, from Messrs M T P & S D Wills, Fawcett Park selling to Mr Edward Foley, Capheaton. This consignment of well-turned-out Cattle averaged £1618.75. The same home took the Champion honours with a Limousin x Blue Heifer selling to Mr I Bowe, Northallerton.
Over 110 cattle sold in excess of £1300, with Limousin Bullocks topping at £1625 from Messrs H G Jackson, Littlebeck, 21 months- old, selling to Mr J Crichton, with this consignment averaging £1478.33.
Also achieving £1625 was a Charolais Bullock, none farm assured, from Mr E A Harrison, Scarside, purchased by Mr F Towers. The same home selling a pen of Holstein Bullocks to £1165.
Some fantastic returns for dairy bred cattle as well, with Messrs J G & R W Nevinson & Son, High House Farm, Workington, achieving an average of £1485, peaking at £1585 purchased by Mr David Barker.
All in all, a great day’s trading for all, entries are keenly sought after for our next sale on Monday 31st January 2022, entries close Monday 24th January at 12noon.
