On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 89 OTM Cattle.
A marvellous number of cows were forward, but quality and meat were in short supply, to our complete ringside of buyers. Demand being very strong from start to finish. The market topped at £1663.55 / 224.5ppk from Messrs P & M R Carruthers, Rawfoot, Bampton weighing 741kg’s purchased by Jewitt Meat Company.
Pure Beef Limousin Cows from Messrs W Richardson & Son, Ghyll House, weighing 897kg’s, achieving 175.5ppk totalling £1574.24 selling to Mr David Barker.
Plenty of demand for Dairy Cows out of the parlour, with Mr J Findlay, Moorside selling a run of 5 Normandy Cows, to average 127ppk.
Black & Whites totalled £1067.85 for a young cow, from Messrs T R & P E Little, Low Moor Dyke selling to Mr A Jarvis.
A run of done farm assured Beef Shorthorn cows averaged 131ppk / £1060.53. Topping at 146.5ppk, for an 11-year-old cow, realising £1113.40. The same home selling a Beef Shorthorn Stock Bull to £1422.05, weighing 1190kg’s, 9 years old, purchased by Mr D Barker.
Demand was strong & competitive bidders should only mean one thing if you’re not already selling live, it’s time you gave it a try.
