On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 233 Store Cattle.
An overall sale average of £1188.62 was achieved for all sold, with several new buyers around the ringside, this ensured one of the dearest trades witnessed.
The sale topped at £1615 from Messrs Wales, Thackwood, with a twenty-one-month-old Limousin X bullock, purchased by Mr D Barker. This consignment averaged £1432.50.
Limousin X British Blue bullocks topped at £1545 from Messrs Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, purchased by Messrs R Robshaw & Son, Tadcaster, this marvellous consignment of 45, sixteen-to-seventeen-month-old Limousin X bullocks & heifers averaged £1266.86.
Messrs Lowis, Waterside House turned out a packet of six cracking Limousin heifers, eighteen-to-twenty-month-old to average £1535, topping at £1615.
Dairy-bred Limousin heifers peaked at £1405 for a pair of beast from Messrs S Allan & Sons, Greenhow, selling to be Mr D Whaite. This consignment averaged £1372.50.
