On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 240 Store Cattle.
A marvellous show of store cattle was forward for the time of year, with all classes dearer on the fortnight. An overall sale average of £1098 was achieved.
Heifers stole the show averaging £1146.70 for all sold, topping at £1615 for a Limousin cross British Blue from Mr R Dawson, Southwaite Farm, purchased by Mr R Dickinson, this consignment of eight averaged £1373.75.
A superb run of 13 well-turned-out Charolais cross and Limousin cross heifers, aged seventeen-months-old, from Messrs Raine, Fog Close, averaged £1355.77.
Bullocks topped at £1555 for a Limousin cross from Mr R Dawson, Southwaite Farm, purchased by Mr D Barker.
Dairy-bred bullocks topped at £1345 for a 23-month-old British Blue from Messrs E Hird, Park Head, this consignment averaged £1295.
All vendors went home highly delighted with their returns, more cattle are required for our next sale on Monday 6th December, entries close noon Monday 29th November.
