On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 265 Store Cattle.
A larger show of store cattle was forward with trade holding very strong. The sale topped at £1625 for an eighteen-month-old British Blue heifer from Messrs L Bellas & Co, Brampton Hall, selling to Mr R Dickinson. This run of mainly British Blue heifers averaged £1272.75, the same home topped the bullock section at £1500 for a Limousin, bought by Mr D Barker.
Dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks peaked at £1405 for a pair from Messrs Lowis, Waterside House. Nineteen-month-old dairy-bred Charolais bullocks realised £1325 from Mr R Dawson, Southwaite Farm. This run of bullocks and heifers averaged £1247.50.
An overall sale average of £1101 was achieved, with numerous cattle selling in excess of £1200. Dairy Shorthorn X Holstein bullocks sold to £1135 from Messrs Somerville, Lansmere.
