Yew Tree Farm Sale 2021
On Saturday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart held an on-farm sale on behalf of Mr G D Teasdale, Yew Tree Farm, St-Johns-in-the-Vale, Keswick.
This very traditional sale, set in the heart of the Lake District was a huge success, with a vast gathering of local friends, neighbours and farmers, resulting in some astonishing prices, in some places higher than new value.
The sale topped at £30,000 for a 2015 registered Land Rover Defender pick up, in immaculate condition, with 22,300 miles on the clock, selling to local neighbours knowing how genuine the vehicle is.
Tractors in the sale attracted interest from all over the UK, with a Ford 2000 in great original condition for its age achieving £9,000, selling to a Ford enthusiast.
A great tradition at the end of the sale - which is not seen too much of these days, was a selection of breeding sheep. Topping at £300 twice, firstly for a three shear Bluefaced Leicester ram, secondly for a four shear Bluefaced Leicester ram. A pen of 16 dry Mule Shearlings sold to £165, and Mule Gimmer lambs realised £130 twice, for pens of 10 & 20.
