Rearing Calf Report 151021
On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 79 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
A smaller entry was forward to a greatly increased ringside of buyers, this ensured that all classes were strong to sell.
The sale topped at £725 with ten-month-old Limousin bullocks out of British Friesian cows from Causeway Foot Farm, purchased by Mr J Linsley. Another pair from the same home closely followed at £710.
Young calves were short of buyers' requirements, with Messrs NM Strong, Street House, selling British Blue bull calves to £420, bought by J & A Wear, Milburn Grange.
Right across the sale all classes were keenly bid for, and more are required to fulfil demand.
