On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 73 OTM Cattle.
A larger show of cast cows was forward to a full ringside of buyers. An overall average of 123ppk was achieved, topping at 183.5ppk for a pure Limousin cow, totalling £1247.80 from TW Bell & Son, Hill Top, purchased by Owain Llyr.
Limousin cows from Messrs W Atkinson & Sons, Demesne Farm, Whitehaven, topped at £1445.85 for a seven-year-old beast, weighing 814kg, purchased by Mr D Barker, with this run of cows averaging £1369.53/172ppk.
Messrs F Harrison & Sons, Crossrigg, sold Black & White cows to a top of £1177.14/155.5ppk. A ten-year-old Friesian cow from Messrs J Armstrong, Highrigg, achieved 130.5ppk/£977.45, purchased by Mr L Fell.
Mr J Findlay, Moorside Farm, sold over-age Nomande heifers to £1270.86/179.5ppk.
A ten-year-old Limousin stock bull, weighing 955kg, achieved £1456.38/152.5ppk from Messrs M & EJ Wilson, Townend, purchased by Jewitt Meat Company.
