On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 70 OTM Cattle.
A much larger show of cast cows was forward to an extended ringside of buyers, topping at £1361.25 (181.5ppk) for a Limousin cross British Blue cow, purchased by Mr S Prime, this home also sold others to 193.5ppk, realising £1195.83, with this run averaging 661kg/157ppk.
A superb run of six continental cows from Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, averaged a staggering £1164.11/165ppk.
Black & Whites topped at 177.5ppk for over-age heifers from Mr W Schug, Bongate Moor, totalling £1279.78, purchased by Mr L Fell, closely followed at £127.86/176.5ppk from the same home.
Six-year-old Holstein cows topped at 125.5ppk/£1020.32 from Messrs H & EM Hunter, Berrier Head Farm, purchased by Mr L Fell.
