Rearing Calves & Stirks 030921
On Friday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 68 Rearing Calves and Stirks.
A smaller show of calves and stirks was forward after last fortnights record number. The sale topped at £670 for a pair of eight-month-old British Blue cross bullocks from Mr B Hogg, Cairnbridge Farm, purchased by Mr JH Horn, Lazonby.
Lord Inglewood Farm Partnership sold five-month-old Limousin bull stirks to £620, with numerous others over £600.
Younger British Blue calves were good to sell with Messrs Turnbull, Monks House, topping at £460 for twelve-week-old calves purchased by Messrs Atkinson. One-month-old British Blue calves achieved £370 from Messrs AD & FE Elliott, Askrigg Hall, purchased by Messrs B & DA Bousfield.
