August Special Sale of Store Cattle 2021

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their Special August Sale of 330 Store Cattle.

A larger show of store cattle was forward to a very fast trade, with numerous runs of cattle averaging £1200 plus. The sale topped at £1500 for a twenty-four-month-old dairy-bred Charolais bullock from Messrs JG & RW Nevinson & Son, High House Farm, Pica selling to Mr D Barker. This run of cattle averaged £1361.25.

A run of nine dairy-bred bullocks from Mr P Bousfield, Glaslyn House averaged £1285, topping at £1425.

Montbeliarde bullocks peaked at £1235 from Messrs NM Strong, Street House with numerous others selling for £1100 plus.

Sixteen-month-old Limousin bullocks from Messrs J Weir, High Lodore sold to £1385.

Heifers were definitely the easiest sold on the day, with numerous extra orders around the ringside, this ensuring that all classes were exceptionally good to sell. Many more could have been sold to the vendor's advantage.

Topping the heifer section at £1400 was a thick fifteen-month-old red Limousin heifer from Messrs Atkinson, Scratchmere Scar, selling to Mr D Barker.

Native heifers topped at £1355 for a dairy-bred Hereford from Mr J Barker, Capplegill, Moffat. Dairy-bred Aberdeen Angus heifers from Messrs NM Strong, Street House peaked at £1285.
