On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly Sale of 210 Store Cattle.
Trade can only be described as fine, with quality cattle forward to an extended ringside of buyers.
Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey, sold a run of seventy-eight 15-16mth old Limousin X & Charolais X Bullocks to average a staggering £1235.64, topping at £1425, with plenty of pens of cattle £1300 plus.
Dairy-bred British Blue bullocks from Messrs JG & RW Nevinson & Son, High House Farm, sold to a top of £1415, selling to Mr D Barker. Messrs S & W Maughan, Street House, sold a ring full of nine Aberdeen Angus X Holstein bullocks straight off grass, to £1335 purchased by Mr J Crapper, the full run averaged £1285.69.
British Friesian bullocks achieved an amazing £1355 from Messrs S Allan, Greenhow.
Mr OI Ellithorn, Dacre Lodge, topped the heifer section with a twenty-three-month-old, none farm assured, dairy-bred British Blue heifer to £1345.
Messrs R & E Holmes, The Green, sold a lovely run of fourteen to fifteen-month-old Limousin bullocks & heifers to average £1285, topping at £1315 for a heifer, selling to Mr R Dickinson.
