On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 50 OTM Cattle.
Demand for all classes was equally as strong as previous sales with numbers well short of requirements. The sale averaged 139ppk, topping at 201.5ppk for a British Blue cow weighing 691kg, realising £1392.37 from Messrs JW & M Buckle, Bleathgill, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
A Limousin cross cow, weighing 707kg, achieved £1410.47/199.5ppk from Messrs DH & ER Strong, Well House, purchased by Jewitt Meat Company.
Messrs JH & MF Chapplehow, Friendship Farm, sold a seven-year-old Friesian cow, weighing 1003kg to achieve 124.5ppk/£1248.74 purchased by Mr L Fell.
Messrs A & W Johnston, White Fold, sold Holstein cows to a top of 142.5ppk/£919.13, with this run averaging 139.87ppk.
Cast bulls topped at £1511.97 for a Limousin from Mr KJ Burrow, Hacra, closely followed by a young Limousin bull from Messrs E & R Brass, Barnskew, realising £1425.17/171.5ppk, both purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
