May Special Cattle 100521

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their annual show and sale of 300 Store Cattle.
The prize show was kindly judged by Mr J Townley, Clapham, who awarded the champion honours and the 2021 ‘Potfest’ plate to a fantastic Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Hodgson, Woodfoot, this selling to £2100 purchased by Brown & Mason, Clapham.
Reserve honours also went to Dawn Bowness for a Limousin X British Blue heifer which later sold for £1100 to the judge.

A great show of store cattle was forward with a sale average of £1121 achieved, this up £165 per head this year. The sale topped at £2,100 for the Champion beast, a red roaned Limousin X British Blue heifer from Messrs Hodgson, Woodfoot, Bampton.

Top priced bullock on the day was £1565, this was paid for a Limouisn X British Blue from Far Close Farm, selling to Mr D Barker. This run of exceptional cattle averaged £1517.50. The same home sold heifers to £1525, purchased by Mr R Dickinson.

Messrs HG Jackson, Littlebeck, sold a run of Limousin X heifers to average £1338.33, topping at £1435.

Dairy bred Limousin X Holstein bullocks achieved £1335 for a pen of three from Messrs TJ & JM Powley, Blands Farm. Heifers sold to £1335 from the same home, purchased by Mr D Whaite. This run averaged £1289.29.
