On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 180 Store Cattle.
A very mixed offering of cattle was forward, from none farm assured Holstein bulls realising £625 at nine-months-old, through to the top price in the sale, £1535 paid for a none farm assured twenty-three-month-old Charolais bullock from Mr EA Harrison, Scar Side Farm.
The sale achieved an overall average of £1102.42 for all sold, the extreme returns exceeded most vendors expectations.
A run of eight dairy-bred British Blue bullocks, 19-20mths old from Mr R Dawson, Southwaite Farm averaged a staggering £1282.80, topping at £1335.
A run of eight twelve-month-old Beef Shorthorn bullocks from Messrs JE Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm averaged £1007.50, topping at £1185.
Aberdeen Angus heifers sold tremendously well throughout the sale, averaging £1100 and topping the female section at £1355, from Messrs A & S Robley, Nelson Hill Farm, purchased by Messrs Foley Brothers, Capheaton.
