OTM Cattle 290321
On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 46 OTM Cattle.
A larger entry of cast cows was forward to a full ringside of buyers, all classes were considerably dearer with an average of 131ppk being achieved for a majority show of plainer Black & White cows.
The sale topped at 197.5ppk for a British Blue cross Limousin cow from Messrs Metcalf, Home Farm, realising £1202.78, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
A seven-year-old British Blue cross cow, weighing 869kg, from Messrs JW & M Buckle, Bleathgill, achieved £1690.21/194.5ppk, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
The trade of the day had to be Black & White cows with Messrs J & B Donald, Lamonby Hall, selling a ten-year-old cow to £1258.79/149.5ppk, purchased by Mr L Fell. This was closely followed at 147.5ppk for a ten-year-old Holstein cow, straight-out-of-the-parlour from Messrs Bowe, Low Plains, purchased by Dovecote Park, this run of four cows averaged £1061.21/142ppk.
A Hereford stock bull achieved £1312.27/140.5ppk from Dolphenby Farming Partners.
