On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 51 OTM Cattle.
Another good trade was witnessed in the cast cow ring with a sale average of 134ppk being achieved, topping at 191.5ppk for a 596kg Limousin cross cow from Messrs RG Todd, Crosby Hall, realising £1141.34, purchased by Mr B Howard on behalf of Jewitt Meat Company.
Topping per head at £1497.31 was a seven-year-old British Blue cross Limousin cow from Messrs JA & CM Brown, Park House Farm, weighing 863kg and realising 173.5ppk, purchased by Mr B Howard, this run averaged £1258.01/167ppk.
Messrs Raine, Fog Close, sold a run of dairy-bred Limousin and British Blue cross cows to average £1206.86/154ppk, topping at £1314.22/147.5ppk for a seven-year-old cow purchased by Dovecote Park.
Messrs S Allan & Sons, Greenhow, sold Black & White cows to 166.5ppk/£1123.88 purchased by Mr L Fell. Old cows also from this home, straight out the parlour, achieved £963.41/135.5ppk purchased by Dovecote Park.
Limousin stock bulls topped at £1438.17/136.5ppk for a fourteen-year-old bull from Messrs S Allan & Sons, Greenhow, purchased by Mr S McGimpsey.
British Blue cross Holstein cows, 47-48 months old, sold to 163.5ppk/£1208.27 from Mr R Dawson, Southwaite Farm, averaging £1179.48/155.5ppk.
