On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 48 OTM Cattle.
A lively trade was witnessed, despite the national trend, with our full ringside of buyers ensuring that all classes were well bid for.
Topping the sale at 172.5p/kg for a Limousin X British Blue feeding cow from Messrs Metcalfe, Home Farm, totalling £1,183.35, selling to Mr Owain Llyr.
A seven-year-old Limousin X cow, weighing 867kg from Messrs R & JM Ridley, Ranbeck, realised £1,443.56, selling to Mr D Barker.
A nine-year-old Holstein cow, straight out of the parlour, weighing 837kg from Messrs J Stalker, Ratten Castle, sold to £941.63 purchased by Mr L Fell. Messrs TJ & JM Powley, Blands Farm also sold a Holstein cow, straight out of the parlour, to £988.02 (118.5p/kg), bought by Dovecote Park.
A Limousin stock bull achieved £1,316.88 (139.5p/kg) from Messrs A Johnson, Oddendale Hall, selling to Owain Llyr.
