On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 59 OTM Cattle.

A larger show of cows was forward to a complete ringside of buyers ensuring a fierce trade was witnessed throughout.

The sale topped at £1407.25 for a seven-year-old Aberdeen Angus cross Simmental cow, weighing 866kg from Messrs WR & FD Siddle, Honeypot, purchased by Mr D Barker.

A younger British Blue bred cow, weighing 689kg achieved 203.5ppk from Messrs MTP & SD Wills, Fawcett Park, realising £1402.12 purchased by Jewitt Meat Company.

Cows achieved an overall average of 143.5ppk for all sold. Black & White cows achieved some marvellous returns with Messrs H & EM Hunter & Son, Berrier Head Farm, selling a six-year-old Holstein cow for £1208.97/151.5ppk, purchased by Mr L Fell.

Messrs J Armstrong, Highrigg, sold a run of fifteen-year-old cows to average a staggering 144.5ppk/£970.75.

Younger Holstein cows from Messrs Fisher, Yanwath Woodhouse, achieved a market top of 185.5ppk & 178.5ppk, realising £1131.55 & £1101.35, purchased by Mr A Jarvis.

Cast bulls topped at £1598.47/178.5ppk for a Saler from Messrs ER Toppin & Son, Gale Hall, purchased by Mr S Helliwell.
