On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 45 OTM Cattle.
A marvellous show of cows was forward to a full ringside of buyers, all eager to purchase, with an overall sale average of 137.5ppk being achieved.
The sale topped per head at £1825.43 (138.5ppk) for a Simmental stock bull, weighing 1318kg from Messrs TJ & D Dixon, Shire Lodge, purchased by Pickstocks Telford. A 1088kg Charolais stock bull achieved £1670.08 (153.5ppk) from Messrs IS & CA Mounsey, Town Head, Skelton, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Cast cows achieved £1364.25 (160.5ppk) for a seven-year-old Limousin cross, weighing 850kg from Messrs R & JM Ridley, Ranbeck, purchased by Mr D Barker.
Messrs AJ & L Birkett, Birk Howe Farm, Ambleside, sold a pure-bred Limousin cow to 179.5ppk/£1141.62, purchased by Mr Owain Llyr.
Messrs BR & J Hurford, Bramery, sold Black & White cows, straight out the parlour, to £1225.33/157.5ppk, this home also sold young Jersey cows to £897.75 (157.5ppk).
Young Holstein cows from Mr KJ Burne, High Barn, achieved £1108.85/167.5ppk purchased by Mr A Jarvis.
