On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of Prime Cattle. A much sharper trade throughout all sections with a top of 413.5ppk going to Messrs Lowis, Waterside with a Limousin x Bullock weighing 682kg and totalling £2820.07 being purchased by R Pearson Wholesale Butchers, Bradford with this consignment of 4 averaging 402ppk. Pure Blue Bulls topped at £2993.45 / 409.5ppk from Messrs J E Bellas & Son, Croft Ends Farm again selling to R Pearson. Our next sale will be our opening sale of 2026 on Monday 5th January.

On Monday Penrith & District Farmers’ Mart LLP held their fortnightly sale of 62 OTM Cattle. Cast cows came forward in strong numbers once again with the whole sale averaging £1719.83. Topping at £3553.99 went to Messrs Somerville, Lansmere with a pure bred Hereford Stock Bull weighing 1171kg (303.5ppk) selling to Mr Owen Llyr closely followed at £3259.59 went to Messrs M Bindloss & Son, Shap Abbey with a huge Charollais Cow weighing 1074kg (303.5ppk) purchased by Mr D Barker. Younger Limousin x Blue Cows topped at 349.5ppk / £2463.98 from Mr C A Cannon, Friarbiggin. The best parlour Cows achieved £2027.83 from Messrs Mattocks, Aulby Farm with a 9 year old weighing 826kgs purchased by Mr L Fell. Messrs Lowis, Waterside sold a run of 6 fed Limousin x Cows to average £2180.04 / 296ppk and Messrs Raine, Fog Close selling first cross Limousin Cows to average £2046.50 / 288ppk. On Monday Penrith & District Farmers' Mart LLP held our fortnightly sale of 120 Store Cattle and Feeding Bulls of all classes. A smaller offering of store cattle was forward to conclude an excellent year of trading here at Penrith. Many thanks goes to both our vendors and purchasers for supporting us. Topping the days trading at £2,345 came for a twenty-month-old Aberdeen Angus bullock with great flesh from Messrs IS & CA Mounsey, Town Head, this home also topped the heifer section at £2,245 for a twenty-five-month-old British Blue. This home’s run of eight sold to average £2,157. Limousin bullocks sold to £2,105 for an eighteen-month-old from Messrs BS & J Strong & Son, Hewer Hill.
